Once I realized both of these idiots were psychos, it made much more sense, and I liked it a lot better! ... I love dubcon/noncon. If you do not, definitely steer clear of this book because this MMC is not redeemable...
If you're looking for a genuinely obsessive, morally unhinged MMC, this absolutely delivers. Max isn't a misunderstood antihero. He's possessive, manipulative, and completely consumed by his obsession with Lila, and that's exactly what made him so compelling to read.
What I loved most was that Lila wasn't just a passive heroine. Watching her gradually embrace her own darkness and become just as obsessed made their relationship feel oddly balanced in the most twisted way.
The chemistry was intense from start to finish, the spice actually developed their relationship instead of feeling repetitive, and the emotional tension kept me hooked the entire time. If you enjoy dark romances with possessive psychopath MMCs, morally gray characters, and relationships that are equal parts disturbing and addictive, this is definitely worth picking up!
Strangely addictive. It started out as a very ordinary billionaire/waitress scenario but quickly morphed into an addictive, slightly unhinged cat and mouse game that kept me fully invested until the end.
